Join UsThe Dolphin Marching Band is based between Bournemouth & Poole in Dorset. Membership is open to anyone, although competition rules state that players must be aged between 10 years and 24 years, but helpers are always required. There's no need to be able to read music, as, strange as it sounds, the band does not use written music in its performances. As a new recruit you are included in as much as possible, including carnivals and performances as soon as you are ready, and you would be given instructions on how to play an instrument, caring for your instrument, how to care for your uniform, and of course, how to march. Drill is copied from the Royal Navy. The Dolphin Marching Band is a membership band, and as such there is a joining fee. However, it is minimal and payable after a trial period, for both you and us. There is also a very small weekly subscription, which is paid from starting.
